Solar

Electricity from utility scale solar projects goes towards meeting Renewable Energy Standards (RPS) and reducing an island’s dependence on fossil fuels. Photovoltaic (PV) system costs are trending downward. Module and inverter efficiencies continue to improve making solar power an attractive part of a utility’s generation mix.

The Company has proposed a utility scale PV project on the Westside of Kauai. The project is located on private land with good resource potential. Development is on going and once built there will be many benefits to the island community:

  • Shifting daytime electricity generation away from fossil fuel based sources
  • Job creation through development, construction, and operation
  • Increasing long term electricity price stabilization by de-coupling the price of electricity from the price of fossil fuels
