KIUC's 2008 Strategic Plan calls for the utility to bring 50% renewable energy to it's members by 2023. The state of Hawaii is aiming for 70% renewables by 2030. This will require concerted the effort of KIUC and the Kauai's energy developers and providers. Pacific Light and Power is engaged in early talks with KIUC for multi-megawatt projects to help the co-op and its members achieve these difficult and commendable goals.
